Dudley, Mass. (11/17/12) –The Lasell College men's basketball team dropped a 99-82 decision to host Nichols College on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Lasell to 0-2 on the year, while Nichols improves to 1-0.
Sean Bertanza (Seymour, Conn.) led the Lasers with 25 points, Brandon Ganesh (West Palm Beach, Fla.) chipped in 15 points, six rebounds and five assists, and Rob Watts (Lafayette, N.J.) scored 12 points off the bench. Matt Langadas (Casco, Maine) scored a career-high 30 points for Nichols, while Marlon Bennett (Stratford, Conn.) added 23 points and Jeff Schmeltz chipped in a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Nichols held a 50-45 lead at the half, before using a 25-10 run through the first eight minutes of the second half to break the game open.
The Bison shot 54.4% from the floor, 8-16 from three point land, and 17-19 from the foul line, while the Lasers finished 36.5% from the field, including 3-21 from downtown. The Bison return to action on Monday with a 7 p.m. contest at MCLA. The Lasers play at Babson Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
