Men's Basketball Suffers GNAC Semifinal Defeat

New Haven, CT – The Lasell College men's basketball team saw their season end on Thursday night in the GNAC semifinals, falling 92-70 at #15th ranked Albertus Magnus.

Lasell was led by Javon Williams (Mattapan, MA), who scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Sean Bertanza (Seymour, CT) tallied 14 points for the Lasers.

Ray Askew (Hamden, CT) led the way for Albertus in the win tallying 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as the Falcons won their 21st-consecutive game. Askew became the program's all-time scoring leader, surpassing Tim Russell's '05 mark of 2,234 career points. Askew, who is the all-time leading rebounder in school and conference history, now has 2,244 points in his career. Arshad Jackson (Hartford, CT) added his first double-double of the season as he finished the night with 11 points and career-high 10 assists.

The top-seeded Falcons improved to 26-1 on the year, while Lasell finished the year 13-14 overall after posting an 11-7 record in conference play.

Albertus trailed for the opening 7:47 of tonight's contest before tying the game at 17 at the 12:13 mark of the first half. After the Lasers took a 26-22 lead, the Falcons answered back with a 14-0 run to take a 10-point lead at 36-26.

The Falcons shot 15-29 from the field and 4-5 from three point territory to thwart any comeback efforts by Lasell in the final 20 minutes.

On the night, the Lasers were out-rebounded 49-29 by Albertus, which the hosts turned into a 19-12 advantage in second chance points.
