FH: Lasers Snag First Conference Win of the Season

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Lasers collected their first conference win on Tuesday night in a 4-0 matchup against the Falcons of Albertus Magnus at Celentano Field.

The first quarter remained scoreless with a single penalty corner from the Lasers and three shots on net as they controlled possession of the ball.

Heading into the second quarter, Lasell continued to dominate the play as they put in their first goal of the game. The Laser goal came from freshman Alice Rourke, her first collegiate goal, assisted by freshman Megan Crabtree.

Five minutes later, Lasell's junior Jacquelyn Scopa fired a shot into the back of the net off of a penalty corner, giving the Lasers a 2-0 lead heading into the second half.

The Falcons held the Lasers in the third quarter, allowing six shots and four penalty corners without the Lasers scoring.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Lasers came out with two back-to-back goals in the fourth by freshman Amelia McAfee. The pair of points marked McAfee's first collegiate goals and were both assisted by graduate student Alessia Callahan.

Lasell out-shot the Falcons 18-3 and had 10 penalty corners compared to the Falcons' three.

UP NEXT: The Lasers are on the road again Thursday, Sept. 5 at 4:30pm for a non-conference matchup against Framingham State.
