FH: Lasell falls to Keene State in first road game

KEENE, N.H. – Junior Nina Bruno scored two fourth-quarter goals Wednesday evening as Keene State College blanked Lasell University, 3-0, in non-conference field hockey action at the Owl Athletic Complex.

Junior Kayla Klein (West Brookfield, Mass.) gave the host Owls (1-1) an early lead with her second goal of the season five minutes into the game. The Lasers kept the Owls at bay the rest of the first half and went into the intermission down by just the one goal. Keene had a 13-1 advantage in shots in the first half, including all eight attempts in the second quarter.

Neither team could put the ball in the back of the net in the third quarter, but the Owls came alive with two in the final frame, both by Bruno, to secure win. Lasell had a 4-3 shot advantage in the fourth quarter but could not finish one off.

Keene State finished with a 21-7 margin in shots. Junior Sydney Pignone (Ipswich, Mass.) finished with five saves in the Lasell cage, while Rachel Loseby made four saves to post the whitewash for the Owls.

Senior Sam Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) had three of Lasell's shots, and classmate Izzy Contois (Conway, Mass.) had two.

Lasell (1-1) is back in action on Saturday, September 7, with a non-conference home game vs.  Nichols College at Grellier Field, beginning at noon.
