BSB: Lasers Sweep Doubleheader Against Suffolk

Boston, MA – Lasell College Baseball team secured two impressive wins over Suffolk University, posting a final score of 9-2 and 12-1. 

Game 1 

Lasell's offense was led by Pierce Clare, who went 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs, and Declan Silva, who also tallied 2 hits and 1 RBI. CJ Mills and Scott Lyon each contributed with key plays, scoring 2 runs apiece, while Jared Whitby and Christopher Bulk added important RBIs for the team.

The Lasers' pitching staff, spearheaded by Matthew Fletcher (1-0), dominated the game. Fletcher earned the win, allowing just 2 runs on 6 hits across 5 innings while striking out 6 batters. Adam Marsh earned the save, throwing 4 scoreless innings in relief, where he struck out 4 while not allowing a hit.

Lasell's offense exploded in the 3rd and 7th innings, scoring 2 and 4 runs, respectively, to put the game out of reach for Suffolk. The Lasers' strong defensive play and aggressive base running kept the Rams on their heels throughout the contest.

 

Game 2 

Lasell's offense was led by Connor Freitas, who went 3-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Tim Callahan also delivered with a 2-for-4 performance, including a triple and 2 RBIs. The Lasers capitalized on multiple scoring opportunities, with Jared Whitby and Jonah Nielsen adding 3 RBIs combined.

The Lasers' pitching was equally impressive. Zachary Simone (1-0) earned the win, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits across 5 innings while striking out 5. In relief, Owen Caldwell earned the save after 3 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 6.

Suffolk struggled offensively, managing just 3 hits and 1 run. Max Martin provided a bright spot for the Rams with a 1-for-3 performance, while Sam Armbruster drove in the lone Suffolk run. Despite solid efforts on the mound from Harry Meehan (0-1) and relievers John McDevitt and Nick Rubin, the Rams were unable to keep up with the Lasers' offensive onslaught.

Lasell took control of the game early with a 1-run lead in the first inning, but the game truly opened up in the 4th and 5th innings, where the Lasers scored 7 runs to pull away. Connor Freitas's 3-run home run in the 4th inning was a key moment that further solidified the lead.

The Lasers' defense was clean, committing no errors, while Suffolk struggled with 3 defensive miscues that contributed to the loss.
