
Newton, MA - The GNAC announced their end of the year awards on Tuesday, and the Lasell Baseball team eight players honored.
Tim Callahan was named to the All-GNAC First team after his historic season. He led the conference with 66 hits, and finished second in the conference in runs (51) and batting average (.434). All three of those also set new school records. Callahan also led the team with 16 stolen bases and 13 doubles.
Two other Lasell record breakers were named to the All-GNAC Second team in Matthew Fletcher and Matthew Bischof. Fletcher was the Lasers' ace on the mound all season. He ranked third in the conference with 82 strikeouts, ninth in ERA at 3.23, and fourth with six wins. He set numerous program records including strikeouts in a season (82), strikeouts per nine innings (12.03), games started (10), and innings pitched (61.1). He also recorded the two highest strikeout games in school history with games with 14 and 15 strikeouts. Bischof, already the program record holder in career HR, led the team with five homers to bring his career total to 17. He ranked fifth in the conference with 38 RBI, the third most in a single season in program history. He also ended his career with 99 RBI, the second most in school history.
Also being named to the second team was Bryan Baumann and Connor Freitas. Baumann had 45 hits, and ranked 12th in the GNAC with a .357 batting average. Freitas ranked fourth in the conference with 39 RBI, the second most in school history. His 50 hits were seventh in the conference, while his .373 batting average was sixth. Freitas was also named to the All-Rookie team.
Rounding out the All-GNAC team awards was Ethan Bernardo, as he was named to the third team. Bernardo ranked second in the GNAC with four saves, tied for the most in a single season in school history.
Joining Freitas on the All-Rookie team was Adam Marsh. Marsh broke the school record for wins in a season with seven, good for the second most in the GNAC. He struck out 36 batters over 38.2 innings, and had a 4.89 ERA.
Spencer Murphy was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team. The senior played in 15 games, recording two hits in seven at bats.
