Baseball: Bischof adds to his single season home run record in loss to Curry

Waltham, Mass. – The Lasell University Lasers baseball team fell in a non-conference matchup with Curry College, 9-3, Thursday night at Stein Diamond.

Curry jumped out in front in the top of the fourth as graduate student Jared Keller (Oxford, Conn.) hit a three-run homerun to left field to bring home freshman Tommy Marshall (Hanson, Mass.) and senior Jason Leonard (Dedham, Mass.). The Colonels tacked on another on a fielder's choice off the bat of sophomore Ryan Goonan (Raynham, Mass.) that brought home junior Conor Hanlon (Beverly, Mass.).

The Colonels scored again in the fifth inning as Keller hit a second straight three run home run this time to left center that brought home Leonard and senior Julian Jaume (Staten Island, N.Y.) to open up a seven-run lead. Sophomore Joan Peralta (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hit a double off the wall in left center to bring home Hanlon. Curry scored their ninth run in two innings as senior Eric Sennott (Odessa, Fla.) hit an RBI ground out to bring Peralta home and close out the fifth.

Pitching shut down both sides the rest of the way as the game finished 9-3 in favor of Curry.

Senior Jack Needham (Raynham, Mass.) got the start and win for the Colonels going six innings while giving up three runs on five hits and striking out four. Keller led the Colonels on offense going four for five at the plate with two home runs and six runs batted in. Peralta also drove in a run on two hits and Goonan drove in a run as well for Curry.
