Hurty Adds NEIBA, ABCA/Rawlings, and D3Baseball All-Region Honors to Postseason Accolades

NEWTON, Mass. (5/25/16) – Senior Wes Hurty (Windsor, Conn.) earned a roster spot on the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA), American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA)/Rawlings, and D3baseball.com All-Region teams, as announced by the respective organizations this week. Hurty was named to the D3Baseball second team, and was placed on the NEIBA/ABCA third team. Earlier last week, Hurty was selected to play in the NEIBA All-Star game, which will be hosted by Holy Cross University on Sunday, June 5 at 6:00 p.m.

This season marks the fifth year that D3baseball.com has named All-Region teams. Out of 800 total nominees, Hurty was one of 42 athletes to earn a roster spot, and was one of five Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) players on the squad.

A total of 52 players from 25 different schools were recognized on the first, second, and third NEIBA All-Region teams. Hurty was named as the third team catcher, representing the Lasers for the first time since 2012.

Hurty, the GNAC player of the year and conference gold glove recipient, hit .348/.469/.491 (AVG, OBP, SLG) in 37 starts as Lasell's backstop. Hurty knocked in a team-leading 32 RBI's to go along with 39 hits, ten doubles, and two homers.

The four-year standout capped his Lasell career with a tremendous stat line, and reached the 100-hit milestone this season in a conference split with JWU. A three-time All-Conference player, Hurty exits Lasell with 107 career hits, 67 runs, and 74 RBI's.

As a team, the Lasers finished 21-17, and reached the third round threshold in post-season playoffs as the only team to do so since the program's inception in 2009.
