NEWTON, Mass. – According to an email sent out by Lasell University President Michael B. Alexander, the Laser athletic teams will not be taking their scheduled Spring Break trips next week. This includes the baseball and softball trips to Florida, the men's lacrosse trip to Maryland, and the women's lacrosse trip to Puerto Rico.

"Out of an abundance of caution and with the best interest of everyone at Lasell in mind," said President Alexander, "the decision has been made to cancel the following University-sponsored trips:

• Alternative Spring Break trips
• Athletic team Spring Break trips
• Student Alumni Association/Lasell University Alumni Association Service trip

"These programs and activities are a rich part of the student experience at Lasell," said Alexander. "This decision, based on the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation, was made after consulting with state and local health authorities, peer institutions and members of the Lasell community including students, faculty, staff and coaches. Please know that nothing is more important than the health, safety and well-being of our community."
