SB: Lasers Keep Season Alive with Win Over Saints

Newton, MA – The Lasell University softball team defeated the Emmanuel Saints on Saturday evening, 3-1. The win advances the Lasers to the Pod B championship on Sunday morning.

The Lasers got on the board first, in the first inning as a groundout to shortstop scored a runner from third, giving Lasell an early lead. The next inning, Ally Kirck singled up the middle with runners on first and third adding on to the lead.

Later on in the fourth, Abby Fortin grounded a ball to the shortstop, scoring a run from third, making it 3-0 Lasers.

The Saints scored their lone run in the sixth as Olivia Conti singled with a runner on third.

Eryn Sheeley (12-6) tossed all seven innings for the Lasers, allowing one run on five hits while walking one and striking out 11.

Offensively, Kirck singled and doubled and drove in a run, Katie Hopkins tripled and drove in a run. Emily Rondeau doubled and tripled and Gendreau, Mackenzie Still, and Fortin all singled.
