SB: Lasers Sweep UMaine-Farmington

Newton, MA. - The Lasers swept UMaine-Farmington this afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader, extending their season record to 6-6. 

Game 1 

The Lasers opened up scoring in the bottom of the third when Mackenzie Still singled fired one through at shortstop to send Ally Kirk home. A pair of groundouts and a strikeout for Farmington led the Lasers to the bottom of the fourth where they tacked two more runs onto the board. A triple for Alyssa Bland followed by a double from Kirck sent in the final two runs of the match. 

Eryn Sheely held strong on the mound for the Lasers, pitching all seven innings and allowing just one hit and collecting 14 strikeouts. 

Game 2 

The Beavers opened up scoring early in the first with an RBI single to right field. Bland sent the ball to center field to send home Sheely and even out the score. The Beavers added two more runs to the board in the top of the third to take the lead, which the Lasers answered an inning later. Abigail Fortin doubled to left field, sending Bland and Emily Mestas home to even out the score one more time. Brianna Gendreau sent one out to center field the next at bat, sending Fortin home to collect the win. 

 

Up Next: The Lasers will be back on the field this Wednesday as they face off against Eastern Nazarene College in a non-conference matchup.
