SB: Lasers Receive Five Honors From GNAC

Newton, MA - The GNAC announced their year end awards on Tuesday, and Lasell had five award winners.

Both Eryn Sheeley and Brianna Gendreau were named to the All-Conference Second Team after their record breaking seasons. Sheeley dominated in the circle, breaking the school record for strikeouts in a career (361) and in a season (191), shattering both records as the previous marks were 285 and 139. She also tied the single game record for strikeouts at 13. On the season she made 26 appearances, with 18 starts. She went 15-8 and recorded one save. She pitched 145.1 innings, and had a 2.75 ERA. She recorded eight different 10+ strikeout games, and 12 complete games. She also produced with the bat, recording 29 hits to a .279 batting average. She had 11 doubles and three homers, giving her 21 RBI.

Gendreau also broke a pair of program records for hits in a career and in a season. She had 69 hits on the season to give her 172 in her career. Besting the previous records of 56 and 169. She hit .418 on the season, and had 11 doubles and two triples. She knocked in 21 runs and stole 10 bases while scoring 33 runs.

Ally Kirck was named to the All-Conference Third Team. She recorded 43 hits on the season for a .321 batting average. She tied the single season record for triples with six. She also had six doubles and a home run.

Abigail Fortin was named to the All-Rookie Team. She made an impact both in the circle and at the plate. Pitching, she made 25 appearances, 19 of them starts. She went 9-7 on the season with 13 complete games. She struck out 73 batters and had a 4.01 ERA. Hitting, she had 38 hits for a .358 batting average. All but three of her hits were singles.

Angelena Piers was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The senior played in 26 games and had 10 hits with 12 RBI.

Sheeley, Gendreau, and Grace Stephenson were each named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team for their performances during the GNAC Playoffs.
