SB: Lasers Fall in GNAC Playoffs: Will Play on Saturday

Providence, RI - The Lasell Lasers fell in a GNAC Playoff game to Albertus Magnus by a final score of 4-3 on Thursday. The loss moves the Lasers to the loser's bracket, and drops them to 25-15-1 on the season. The Falcons are now 23-18.

In a surprise move, the Lasers sent Meghan Theall out to start in the circle. She pitched the first inning, and got two quick outs. But a single followed by back-to-back doubles plated two runs for the Falcons. The Lasers responded with a run in the second, as Eryn Sheeley hit an RBI single. She then took over in the circle in the bottom of the inning. The Falcons scored a run on an error, going up 3-1 after two innings. Neither team would score over the next three innings. The Lasers then got things going in the sixth. A lead off double from Mackenzie Still was followed by a Grace Stephenson two run homer to tie the game. But the Falcons would walk the game off in the seventh after a double and a single, taking the game 4-3.

The Lasers had 11 hits in the game, led by Abigail Fortin with three. Brianna Gendreau and Mackenzie Still each had two. Gendreau now sits at 167 career hits, two behind Nicole LeBlanc's school record of 169. Meghan Theall got the start, and went one inning, allowing three hits and two earned runs. Eryn Sheeley would pitch the rest of the game, allowing seven hits and two runs, one of which was earned. She struck out five.

Up next - The Lasers will play in an elimination game on Saturday, taking on Saint Joseph's (ME) at 12:30pm at JWU.
