SB: Lasers Advance in GNAC Playoffs

Newton, MA - After a rain out and two changes in venue, the Lasell Lasers Softball team finally got to play their first home playoff game in over 10 years on Wednesday, beating USJ by a score of 8-0. The Lasers are now 25-14-1 on the season, while the Blue Jays season ends at 22-18.

The Lasers wasted no time, leading the game off with a single and double by Abigail Fortin and Ally Kirck. Brianna Gendreau then brought Fortin home with an RBI single. Kirck then scored on a Katie Hopkins RBI single. another run scored on a sacrifice fly. Eryn Sheeley then had an RBI double before scoring on an RBI double by Meghan Theall. When it was all said and done, the Lasers led 5-0 after the first. Theall would also knock in the next run with an RBI single in the third. Leading 6-0 in the sixth, the Lasers would use a two out rally to end the game, as Brianna Gendreau had a two RBI single to put the Lasers up 8-0, ending the game.

The Lasers had 11 hits, with all but one player recording a hit. Ally Kirck, Brianna Gendreau, and Meghan Theall each had two hits. Eryn Sheeley was her usual self, allowing just three hits over six innings while striking out eight.

Up next - The Lasers will be back at it tomorrow when they play against Albertus Magnus at 3pm at JWU.
