PROVIDENCE, R.I. (4/11/17) – Top seeded Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Johnson & Wales Blanked the Lasell softball team, 16-0 and 24-0, on Tuesday afternoon. The Lasers dip to 4-16 and 0-8 in the conference, while the Wildcats move to 18-5 this year and stay undefeated in GNAC play at 10-0.

Arianna Genovese (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Maggie King (Sandy Creek N.Y.) swung into the only two hits for the Lasers on the afternoon.

In game one, JWU starting pitcher Jennifer Corona (Middle Island, NY) set the tone for an eight-run second inning in game one with a solo home run. Second baseman Ally Mishol (Longmeadow, Mass.) capped the scoring with a long ball as she belted a grand slam, while seven of the nine batters picked up a hit and all nine Wildcats reached base.  Third baseman Meghan Gavin (Wallingford, Conn.) and centerfielder Kristin Frost (Pearl City, Hawaii) led the way with three each.

Krystel Enko (Haydenville, Mass.) and Nicole Arcese Holliston, Mass.) suffered the losses on the hill for the Lasers.

Corona was nearly unhittable as only surrendered one hit with nine strikeouts to pick up her 10th win of the year. Game two starter Noelle Weiss (Hartland, Wisc.) gave up one hit in four scoreless innings.

Lasell returns to Taylor Field tomorrow for a non-conference twinbill against Eastern Nazarene at 3:00 p.m. The Wildcats go on the road Thursday to take on Roger Williams at 4:00 p.m. in a single game.
