Bergin Shutout Helps Lasell Past St. Joe's (Conn.) 1-0 in Spring Trip Finale

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (3/21/14) – The Lasell College softball team won a pitcher's duel in the final game of their spring trip, 1-0 over St. Joseph's of Connecticut in a non-conference matchup to finish their southern trip 5-3 overall.

Eileen Bergin spun a six-hit complete game shutout recording a pair of strikeouts to earn her fourth win of the trip in the circle. Courtney Moen singled and scored the lone run of the game for Lasell and Denise Archetto singled and tripled in the game.

Moen reached on an error in the home half of the first inning and advanced to third on a single by Emily Noll. The Lasers executed a double steal that sent Noll to second and allowed Moen to come in and score for the game's only run. Bergin didn't allow a runner past second base the entire afternoon, as she scattered six hits in the 1-0 victory.

Lasell returns to the diamond on Tuesday March 25th when they host Lesley University for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
