Big Innings Propel Lasell to Sweep of Gallaudet in Softball Twinbill

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (3/18/14) – The Lasell College softball team swept a double dip against Gallaudet University, taking game one 12-3 and game two 10-2, improving to 4-3 on the season with the victories.

Game One – Lasell 12 – Gallaudet 3

Nicole LeBlanc had a big day Lasell, doubling twice and singling twice while scoring a run and driving in five on the day. Denise Archetto had three singles, scoring a pair of runs and knocking one in while Emily DeAngelis singled and doubled while scoring a pair of runs and driving in two. Santina Antoshak added a single and a double in the contest, scoring two runs and knocking one in. Eileen Bergin went the distance for Lasell, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out seven in seven innings of work to earn the victory.

Gallaudet opened the game with three runs in the bottom of the first using a pair of singles and a pair of triples before Bergin fanned a pair to escape the jam and end the inning. Lasell tallied a pair of runs in the top of the second inning as Molly Pritchett reached on a one out walk and DeAngelis on an error to put runners on the corners. Michaelea Grady singled to knock in Pritchett the stole second to put runners on second and third with one out. Archetto singled to plate DeAngelis for the Lasers second run of the inning, making it 3-2 in Gallaudet's favor.

Lasell loaded the bases with two outs in the third inning, scoring two runs on a DeAngelis double and adding another one when Noll scored on a wild pitch to take a 5-3 lead. Lasell up their lead to 6-3 in the top of the fourth when Santina Antoshak doubled, coming in to score on a two-out single by LeBlanc.

The Lasers added to their lead with two runs in the top of the sixth, taking a 8-3 lead when LeBlanc knocked in two with a double. Lasell put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs on five hits en-route to the 12-3 victory.

Game Two – Lasell 10 – Gallaudet 2

Makenzie Madden had a pair of singles and three runs batted in for Lasell, also scoring once. Emily DeAngelis doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Nicole LeBlanc finished with a pair of singles and two runs scored. Krystal Enko threw five innings to earn the win on the afternoon. Enko allowed five hits and two runs, one earned with one walk and one strikeout in her first collegiate start.

Gallaudet scored a run in the first after an error and a double to take a 1-0 lead, then added another in the top of the third after a lead-off double and a two-out single to make it 2-0. Lasell countered with six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-2 lead. Eileen Bergin led off with a single, followed by singles from LeBlanc and Noll to load the bases with nobody out. Pritchett singled to plate Bergin and a sacrifice fly from Michaelea Grady tied the score at 2-2.

Madden singled to score Noll and Pritchett came in to score on an RBI groundout by DeAngelis. Santina Antoshak singld to score Madden, stole second and came in to score on a single by Courtney Moen to make it a 6-2 game.

Lasell capped of the 10-2 victory with a four run fifth inning that included a two-run single by Madden, and RBI double by DeAngelis and an RBI single by Bergin.
