Softball Falls in Season Finale

Boston, Mass.- The Lasell college women's softball team fell at Emerson College on Saturday April 21st in their final games of the season. The Lasers dropped the opening game of the doubleheader 3-0, before falling 9-0 in the second game. They concluded their season 10-30 overall and 9-17 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Game One: Emerson took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double by sophomore Brittany Rochford (Irvine, Ca.), and Alexand Magistro (Hackettstown,. N.J.) made it stand up helping the Lions to their 29th win of the season. Magistro pitched five innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out nine to earn the win.

Cassie Wadden took the loss for Lasell despite a solid performance, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three in six innings of work. At the plate, Talia DeChiara and Mary Fontaine both went 1-3 with a double while Rachelle Haas added the Lasers third hit when she singled  in the top of the sixth.

Game Two: Emerson opened the second game by plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and that proved to be more than enough to hold off Lasell. Lions pitcher was perfect through five innings, retiring all fifteen batters she faced in order as Emerson cruised to a 9-0 victory.
