Softball Picks Up Two Wins at Norwich in Final Regular Season Games

Northfield, VT-- Lasell College softball picked up two wins during their final regular season contests on Monday afternoon, defeating Norwich University 8-5 in game one, and 10-2 in game two.

 

Freshman Rachelle Haas (Middleton, MA) unloaded two home runs in the doubleheader, one in each game.  Haas had three hits over the course of the day, adding three runs and four RBI.  

 

Ashley Laramie (Lynn, MA) went 3-for-4 in the first game, also producing a homer and adding three runs, then went 2-for-3 with one RBI in game two.  Laramie also had 18 putouts in the field at first base combined over the two games.   

 

Talia DeChiara (Kingston, MA) had three hits against the Cadets, and a sacrifice bunt in the second contest.    Kerry Starkey (Keene, NH) went 1-for-2 in the second contest with a walk, two runs, and two RBI.  

 

Kirsten Mammola (North Reading, MA) was the champion on the mound in the 8-5 Laser victory and Nicole Slader (Harrisville, RI) produced the second win of the day, 10-2, in five innings of work.   Mammola sat four batters on strikes, while allowing 12 Norwich hits.  Slader gave up just seven hits while collecting three strikeouts before the mercy rule took hold in the fifth. 

 

With the two victories, Lasell (19-19-1, 15-9 GNAC) finished in fifth place overall in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference and will host the first round of the post-season tournament on Wednesday, April 21st, at 4:00 p.m.
