Three Lasell College softball players were selected to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference teams for the 2010 season. Junior infielder Ashley Laramie (Lynn, MA) was chosen to the second team, while senior infielder Kelly Barden (Quincy, MA) and freshman outfielder Rachelle Haas (Middleton, MA) were selected to the third team.
This is Laramie’s second straight season being recognized by the GNAC, having been a first team recipient in 2009. This year, the junior infielder led the Lasers with 42 hits, including six doubles, three triples, and six home runs. She also scored 26 runs, produced 22 RBI, made it to base on balls 10 times, and made 233 putouts in the field. Laramie finished the season with a .359 batting average, a .615 slugging percentage, and a .415 on base percentage. She also had a .988 fielding percentage with just three errors out of 244 attempts.
Laramie also had 10 multi-hit games this year, including going 3-for-4 with three runs, an RBI, and a home run against Norwich. She also went 3-for-5 against preseason favorites Emerson with two runs, four RBI, and a home run for the Lasers’ in a 12-8 defeat of the Lions.
A first time honoree, Barden was selected to the third team All-Conference after producing 38 hits, including 14 doubles and three home runs, 18 runs, and a team-high 25 RBI while batting .355 for the season. She was also third on the team in slugging percentage (.570) and walked 10 times adding to a .407 on base percentage. She made 60 outs in the field, with a .952 fielding percentage.
Barden played in, and started in, a total of 36 contests this season and had 13 multi-hit games. Highlights include going 5-for-7 in a doubleheader with Emmanuel College, adding one run and three RBI, and going 5-for-9 with three runs and four RBI against Suffolk. She is also ranked in a tie for first in the GNAC in doubles (14).
Rookie outfielder Haas finished the season with the Lasers’ highest batting average (.373), second on the team in hits (41), home runs (5), and slugging percentage (.586), and third on the team in runs (25), stolen bases (5), RBI (18), and doubles (6).
Haas started in 31-of-37 games played this season, with 11 multiple hit games. She went 6-for-8 with three runs, two RBI, a double, and a triple in a twin bill with Emmanuel and went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one home run in a pair of games with Albertus Magnus.
