Five Lasers Selected to GNAC Softball All-Conference Teams

 

Newton, Mass.- Ashley Laramie of Lynn, Massachusetts was selected to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference softball first team All-Conference, and fellow Lasers Heather Rose (West Roxbury, Mass.), Heather Lynch (Warwick, RI), Tricia Culver (Northampton, Mass.), and Michelle Torres (Waltham, Mass.) were all named to the third team All-Conference for Lasell College.

 

Only a sophomore, Laramie was selected for leading the Lasers with 32 hits this season, including six doubles, two triples, and six homeruns.  Laramie also is second on the team in RBI's, with 21 total, and has run home 15 times herself.  Laramie's batting average is third on the team with a .327, and second in slugging % with a .612.   Laramie has also helped the Lasers out with a .972 fielding %, and made 171 outs this season. 

 

Rose, a senior,  was chosen as the shortstop for the third team having made 72 outs, and assisted 90 times in the field, with a .931 fielding percentage.  She has played in 39 games this season, knocked 30 hits, inclusive of three doubles, four triples, and two homers, and scored 30 runs.  She also has 14 RBI's this season and is leading the team in stolen bases, having made 12 of 13 attempts. 

 

At catcher, Lynch was selected for her .989 fielding percentage, .339 batting average, .427 on base percentage, and nine homeruns this season.  The senior has played in 26 contest this year, with 21 hits, 20 runs, and 17 RBI's.  She is leading the team with her batting average, and also boasts a .839 slugging percentage.  Lynch's walk-off homerun against Lesley University sealed the Lasers 11th win this season.

 

In addition, Lynch also has stolen three bases, made 77 outs and assisted on 11 more, and has three sacrifice hits this year.

 

Culver, a junior outfielder, has played in 23 contests this season before having to end her season early due to an injury.  However, Culver was still able to make an impression with a .314 batting average, good for fifth on the team, with 16 hits, 10 RBI's and five runs.  Culver also stole three bases, made 27 outs, and holds a .976 fielding and a .426 on base percentage.

 

Torres, a sophomore outfielder, rounds out the final Laser to receive GNAC honors.  Torres finished fourth on the team with a .326 batting average.  She had 28 hits this season with 12 RBI's and 17 runs.  She hit three sacrifice flies and added three stolen bases, while also making 29 outs and assisting six more. 

 

The Lasers finished their season in the first round of the GNAC tournament, ending the season with a 21-19 record, and a 14-10 conference slate.
