MSOC: Lasers Fall Short to Falcons

Newton, MA - The Lasers fell short to the Albertus-Magnus Falcons on Tuesday 3-2. The Lasers are now 2-6-2 on the season and 2-4-2 in GNAC play. The Falcons are 7-1-3 overall and 5-1-2 in GNAC play.

The game started off slow with neither team getting any opportunities. Both the Lasers and Falcons traded possession for a while and then in the 23rd minute Owen O'Brien dribbled down and netted the ball in the bottom left corner of the goal to give the Lasers a 1-0 lead. It was O'Brien's first career goal. After the goal Albertus controlled the majority of the possession and had a free kick blocked, but in the 45th minute Dan Faynstein took the ball from midfield himself and crossed the ball to Liam Thompson to put the Lasers up 2-0 just before halftime.

The second half started off with intense energy from a Lasers side looking to put the game away and a Falcons side looking to get back into the game. After some back and forth, the Falcons would score, cutting the lead in half. After the goal more pressure was applied by the Falcons and they were able to tie the game in the 65th minute off of a corner kick. Lasell would have their chances at goal but could not capitalize and in the 75th minute the Lasers would concede a third goal going down 3-2, and that is how the game would end.

The Lasers were kept in the game by the strong play of their goalie Antonio Centracchio, who made eight saves on 11 shots.

Up Next - The Lasers will look to bounce back as they travel to Maine to faceoff against the Monks on Saturday at 1:30pm.
