MSOC: Last Second Goal Gives Lasers a Draw

Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers drew against the Rivier Raiders in dramatic fashion on Thursday, scoring in the final minute of the game to salvage a 1-1 draw. The Lasers are now 2-2-2 on the season, and 2-1-2 in GNAC play while the Raiders are 1-3-3 and 1-2-2.

In a very evenly matched game, neither team was able to score in the first half, although each team had chances. It wasn't until there was about 10 minutes remaining that The Raiders got on the board. It came off of a free kick that was awarded after a Michael Palumbo tackle that gave him a yellow card. The Raiders would lift it up and over everyone, and into the net for what seemed like the game winning goal.

But the Lasers did not give up. Daniel Faynstein wove his way through the Raiders defense in the waning seconds, and was able to force a corner kick. He would then take that corner with a minute remaining in the game, and found Jaydon Perez streaking towards the net. Perez would get a piece of the ball with his head, sending it into the back of the net for the improbable tying goal.

Lasers goalie Cameron McDonough made the start, making four saves.

Up next - The Lasers will host JWU on Saturday at 12pm.
