MSOC: Lasers fall short of upset over Wildcats; season ends at 6-10-3

Providence, R.I. - The #7 seeded Lasell Men's Soccer team saw its season come to an end at the hands of the #2 seed Wildcats of Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon in a GNAC Quarterfinals matchup.

Both teams went through a defensive battle for 65 minutes as it would be scoreless throughout despite multiple opportunities. However, JWU was the first to strike on the board midway into the second half when a goal from Brian Miller would break the scoreless battle open from a corner kick opportunity to give them the 1-0 lead. The Lasers did not want to go away easily as sophomore midfielder Michael Guzzone (Shoreham, N.Y.) would net his second career goal with the help of Liam Thompson (Jericho, Vt.). Then, a critical foul on Lasell was called at the 81:34 mark in which the Wildcats had a penalty kick opportunity. The penalty shot was denied by Lasers goalkeeper Gabrielus Bazikas (Southborough, Mass.) but a rebounded opportunity for Conner Elliott went into the net and ultimately gave the Wildcats the edge over Lasell 2-1.

The Lasers end their season at 6-10-3 while the Johnson & Wales Wildcats advance to the GNAC Semifinals.
