MSOC: #7 Lasers travel to #2 Wildcats for GNAC Quarterfinals

Newton, Mass. – The #7 seed Lasell University Men's Soccer team is set to face off against the #2 seed University of Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex this Saturday at 2:30 PM.

Lasell ended their regular season with a record of 6-9-3 overall and 4-5-3 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play, while the Wildcats of JWU finished their regular season with a record of 13-1-3 overall and 10-0-2 in conference play. The two teams met earlier this month on October 5th when the Lasers traveled to Providence, Rhode Island in which the Lasers fell in defeat 4-0. These two programs are very familiar with each other as they have faced off in postseason play four times with JWU ahead 3-1 in the meetings (two of which ended in penalty kicks). The last time they met in the postseason was in 2019 when Lasell fell short of a potential upset in penalty kicks (1-1/PK).

For Lasell, this is their first GNAC postseason appearance since 2019 and are still in search of their first GNAC title in school history and their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2006 in which Lasell fell to Keene State 2-0 when they formerly competed in the North Atlantic Conference before moving to the GNAC the following year. Meanwhile, the Wildcats are searching for their first GNAC championship and NCAA tournament appearance since 2015 when they defeated Albertus Magnus to clinch the tournament berth but fell short to Lycoming 1-0. Lasell is 0-2 in NCAA tournament appearances and Johnson & Wales is 0-7 in NCAA tournament appearances as well.
