MSOC: Lasers successfully close out regular season finale; finish at 6-9-3

Nashua, N.H. - The Lasell Men's Soccer team closed out its regular season on the road tonight in Nashua, New Hampshire against GNAC opponent Rivier University. 

How it happened: The final regular season contest was a scoreless battle early on in the first half. It wasn't until the second half that Lasell would get on the board first at the 60th minute when sophomore forward Daniel Faynstein (Needham, Mass.) would sneak in a goal past the goalkeeper to give the Lasers a 1-0 lead. Then, Faynstein would put the nail in the coffin for good at the 85th minute mark when he shot the ball from just outside the box on the right side to the back of the net on the left side, giving the win to Lasell 2-0.

  • Faynstein finishes the regular season with 16 goals scored.
  • Gabrielus Bazikas (Southborough, Mass.) finished with 4 saves.
  • Lasell led corner kicks (10-9) and Rivier led shot attempts (16-14).

 

The Lasers close out the regular season at 6-9-3. They are set to face off in the GNAC Quarterfinals this Saturday in Providence, Rhode Island against the #2 seed Johnson & Wales University at 2:30 PM.
