MSOC: Lasell blanked by Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Lasell University men's soccer team fell behind early and couldn't recover Tuesday night in a 5-0 non-conference loss to Elms College at Leary Field.

Babba Jaden scored three goals to lead the home team as the Blazers improve to 2-0-1 on the young season, while Lasell drops to 0-3.

Jaden put the Blazers on the board in the fourth minute and Alex Egan doubled the score in the seventh minute to stake the hosts to an early lead. Jaden tallied his second goal of the game in the 28th minute and the Blazers went on to lead 3-0 at the half.

Jaden finished off his hat trick six minutes into the second half, and Justin Szwajkowski rounded out the scoring in the 70th minute to account for the 5-0 final.

Elms finished with a 16-7 advantage in shots and a 6-1 margin in corner kicks. Sophomore Jake Ouellette (East Granby, Conn.) got off six shots on goal for the Lasers, putting four on the Blazer goal.

Lasell starting keeper Jackson Burhans (Berlin, N.Y.) made two saves in the first half. Senior transfer Chris Tran (Nantucket, Mass.) came on for the second half and made five stops.

The Lasers (0-3) will be back in action Saturday, September 7, at Eastern Connecticut State University in a 1 p.m. match.
