Warriors Blank Men's Soccer in Season Finale

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (10/26/17) – The 2017 season came to a close for the Lasell men's soccer team, as the Lasers suffered a 4-0 defeat against non-league opponent Eastern Connecticut Thursday afternoon at Thomas Nevers Field.

The Lasers close the curtain with a 3-15 overall record, while the Warriors improve to 8-7-2 on the year.

Eastern forward Max Parent (Yarmouth, Mass.) came off the bench to score three consecutive goals as the Warriors netted all of its goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half.

The goals were the first in eight games for Parent, who recorded his fourth goal of the year two minutes after entering the game to give Eastern a lead in the 30th minute. Just over two minutes later, he made it 2-0, then teamed with sophomore back Nick Starkowski (Marlborough, Mass.) as the pair struck for goals 47 seconds apart in the final minutes of the half to push the lead to 4-0 by halftime.

Lasell got 11 shots off compared to Eastern's 21, with four coming off the cleats of junior Connor Wall (East Hampton, Conn.)

Jackson Burhans (Berlin, N.Y.) made five saves in the first half, while Matteo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) stopped three in 35 minutes of second half relief. Jaret Petrie (Milford, Conn.) came in for the final 10 minutes for the Lasers, and made one save.

Eastern closes out the season Saturday with a conference match at the University of Southern Maine at 1:00 p.m.
