Men's Soccer Powers to First Win, 12-1, at Wheelock

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Lasell men's soccer team entered the win column with a 12-1 victory at Wheelock College on Tuesday evening at Winsor Field. 

Lasell used the opening 45 minutes of the contest to build a 6-0 lead to shift to 1-7 overall, while the Wildcats remain winless at 0-9 this season.

Connor Wall (East Hampton, Conn.) got the Lasers on the board first, after converting a corner kick from Jonathan Sutton (Orange, Conn.) at 10:23.

Sutton and Stephen Blood (Windsor, Conn.) would each chip in with a goal apiece to kick off the second period, before freshman midfielder Sam Murray (Boston, Mass.), netted Wheelock's only goal of the night in the 63rd minute. Over the course of the final 27 minutes, Lasell poured in four more goals for a 12-1 final tally, including one each from Kenan Omerbasic (Windsor Locks, Conn.), Matteo Frazzoni (Southampton, Bermuda), Nicholas Gemas (Rochester, N.Y.) and Sawyer Geelan (Guilford, Conn.).

The Lasers were led by Omerbasic, who tallied six points off of three goals, and Frazzoni, who recorded two goals and an assist.

Matteo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) earned the win for Lasell with five stops in the winning effort, while sophomore goalkeeper Gary Broad (Shelton, Conn.) totaled 16 saves in the loss for Wheelock.

Lasell will head to Suffolk University for a GNAC test on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Wheelock also returns to action on October 1 when they travel to Elms College for their first conference slate.
