Stephen Blood Sends Men's Soccer Over Rivier 1-0 in Double Overtime

(Nashua, N.H.) Sophomore Stephen Blood (Windsor, Conn.) lifted the Lasell men's soccer team over Rivier University on Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup at Raider Field. The win advances the Lasers to 2-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while the Raiders drop to 1-9 this season and remain winless in the GNAC at 0-5.

With just 3:04 left on the clock, Blood put away his first goal of the season when he headed in a cross from senior Tyler Davis (Palmer, Mass.) to give the Lasers a 1-0 double overtime win.

Senior net minder Miguel Colmenares (Caracas, Venezuela) recorded his second shut out of the season in 106:56 minutes of work, stopping all four shots on net for Lasell, while Archambault had 13 stops in the game.

Lasell dominated 24-8 advantage in shots and allowed just two corner kicks compared to Rivier's seven.

Both teams return to GNAC action on Monday, October 12. Lasell will head to Albertus Magnus College for kick-off slated for 3:15 p.m., while Rivier will continue to look for their first GNAC win of the season at Norwich University at 7:00 p.m.
