Men's Soccer Falls to Reigning GNAC Champion Johnson and Wales 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (10/3/15) – Top conference contenders Johnson and Wales University topped Lasell College 1-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex. The Lasers sink to 1-7 this season and 1-3 in the conference, while the Wildcats climb to 7-4 overall and sit in second place in the GNAC at 3-1.

The home team got on the board early as freshman Tucker MacPherson (Raymond, N.H.) gathered a pass from freshman Andrew Vecere (Wayne, N.Y.) and tipped in the only goal of the contest. Carrying their momentum into the second half, JWU fired back-to-back shots on net early, however senior goalkeeper Miguel Colmenares (Caracas, Venezuela) was there to make the catch.

Lasell's two shots on net came with ten minutes left to go in regulation, however senior Conor Fitzgerald (Marshfield, Mass.) and freshman Cian Moriarty (Quincy, Mass.) were both denied the point by Wildcats' senior net minder Nick Tolman (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).

Colmenares stopped eight of nine shots on net for the Lasers, while Tolman recorded two saves for the hosts.

Lasell returns to action on Wednesday, October 7 for a night game at 7:00 p.m. at Regis, while Johnson and Wales travels to The University of New England on Tuesday, October 6 for a 5:00 p.m. kickoff.
