Men's Soccer Falls 4-1 to JWU

NEWTON, Mass. (10/4/14) – The Lasell College men's soccer team fell 4-1 to the visiting Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University on Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The loss drops Lasell to 4-6 on the year and 2-2 in GNAC play, while Johnson and Wales climbs to 7-3-1 and 3-1 in league action.

Conor Fitzgerald (Marshfield, Mass.) was the lone Lasers player to tally on the score sheet, scoring his seventh goal of the season on a pass from Nick Liquori (Westfield, Mass.). Miguel Colmenares (Caracas, Venezuela) stopped five shots in goal for Lasell.

O'Kyle Corridon (Selden, N.Y.), Bob Zukofsky (Scotch Plains, N.J.), Greg Kerns (Keysey, W. Va.) and Marcos Mendez (Brewster, Wash.) each scored for Johnson and Wales, and Ryan Dzierawski (Oakland, Mich.) recorded seven saves in the victory.

The Wildcats got out to an early 1-0 lead on Corridon's goal in the 20th minute, his sixth of the season then the visitors made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute of play on Zukofsky's first goal of the season. Kerns and Mendez tallied three minutes apart in the 74th and 77th minutes to put the match out of reach, and Fitzgerald's goal in the 89th minute for Lasell prevented Dzierawski from notching his sixth shutout of the season.

Johnson and Wales will host the University of New England on Wednesday October 8th at 6:30 p.m. while Lasell will host Regis College in non-conference action on the 8th as well.
