Men's Soccer Drops 3-1 Result at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. (8/30/14) – The Lasell College men's soccer team opened their 2014 season at the Keene State Kick-off Classic, falling 3-1 to the host Owls on Saturday afternoon. Lasell slipped to 0-1 on the season while Keene St. upped their record to 1-0 overall.

Conor Fitzgerald (Marshfield, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season for Lasell, while Caique Reginaldo (Quincy, Mass.) recorded his first assist of the 2014 season. Miguel Colmenares (Caracas, Venezuela) took the loss in net for the Lasers, making six saves in the match.

Cam Rogers, Promise Kpee and Conor Leahy each scored for Keene St., while Yazid Eidah, Brett Sullivan and Samuel Binogono each tallied assists in the match. Mike Ketterman stopped four shots in the goal for the Owls to collect the victory.

Lasell opened the scoring in the match when Caique Reginaldo attacked the byline then hit a low driven ball back into the middle which Fitzgerald knocked home to give Lasell a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. Keene St. drew level just seconds before the end of the hald when Cam Rogers header found the back of the net off a Eidah free kick, knotting to score at 1-1 at intermission.

Keene State took the lead in the 75th minute when Kpee finished a feed from Sullivan, making it a 2-1 scoreline, and the Owls pushed their edge to two goals at 3-1 in the 79th minute when Leahy finished a pass from Binogno. The Lasers were unable to threaten further, dropping their season opener, 3-1.

Lasell will take on Hobart College tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in their second match at the Keene State Classic.
