Men's Soccer Scores 4-0 Win at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. (10/23/13) – The Lasell College men's soccer team collected a crucial Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory, 4-0 over Rivier University on Wednesday evening. The Lasers improved to 11-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in GNAC play, giving them an opportunity to clinch the top-seed in the GNAC tournament with a victory over St. Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday October 26th. Rivier fell to 2-11-1 on the season and 1-6-1 in league matches.

Servi Barrientos (Providence, R.I.) scored one goal and assisted on another for the Lasers, who also got a pair of assists from Conor Fitzgerald (Marshfield, Mass.). Mike Skelton, Manny Alves and Cedric Dybaud all found their way onto the score sheet with goals for Lasell.

Barrientos opened the scoring in the 18th minute for the Lasers, scoring on the first of Fitzgerald's two assists, and Dybaud converted a feed from Fitzgerald in the 31st minute o send Lasell in front 2-0 at the half. Skelton scored on a feed from Barrientos in the 72nd minute for his 12th goal of the season, and Alves converted from the penalty spot in the 88th minute to make the final result 4-0 in favor of Lasell.

Miguel Colmenares earned the win in goal for Lasell, making four saves for his fifth shutout of the season. Gary Archambault made eight saves in a losing effort for Rivier.

Lasell will host St. Joseph's (Maine) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday October 26th with the top-seed in the GNAC tournament at stake.
