Men's Soccer Earns GNAC Victory Over Norwich

Newton, Mass. – The Lasell College men's soccer team earned their second Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory with a 5-1 final against the visiting Cadets of Norwich University. Lasell moved to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in GNAC play, while Norwich dropped to 4-3 and 2-1 in the league.

Bako Sokol (Roslindale, Mass.), Nery Guerra(Guatemala) and Nick Liquori(Westfield, Mass.) each found the back of the net helping the Lasers to a 3-0 lead at intermission. Mike Skelton (Conway, N,H.) and Kyle Cronin (Weymouth, Mass.) each tallied in the second half to account for the hosts five goals. Colin Pope (Tunbridge, Vt.) notched the only goal of the day for the Cadets. Christian Hallstron (Las Vegaz, Nev.) made a pair of saves while taking the loss in goal for Norwich, while Lasell keeper Miguel Colmenares (Caracas, Venezuela) made eight saves to earn his fifth win of the season.

Lasell got on the board in the fifth minute, when Sokol's shot skipped past Hallstrom to give his side the lead. Guerra tallied on a shot from the penalty spot in the 26th minute and Liquori found the mark with a header on a Ryan Montemurro service just before the halftime whistle.

Pope's goal drew the Cadets back to within a pair t 3-1 when he beat Colmenares in the 67th minute, however Skelton netted in the 77th to put the game out of reach. Lasell's Cronin scored in the 87th minute to produce the final margin.

Norwich is back in action on Saturday September 22nd when they host Anna Maria for a 3pm kick-off, while Lasell will return to their home pitch on Saturday for a noon match-up against GNAC foe Mount Ida.
