Lasers Thwarted by Judges

WALTHAM, MA—Lasell College men's soccer was thwarted by local rival Brandeis University on Monday night, 3-0, in non-conference competition.  The win improves the Judges overall record to 10-4-1 while the Lasers complete their 2011 regular season with a 9-5-3 overall slate.

 

Tyler Savonen (Orleans, MA) scored two cushioning goals in the second period of play for the hosts while Alexander Farr (Nahant, MA) tallied on the only goal they Judges would need in the 27th minute.   Goalie Blake Minchoff (Fiskdale, MA) earned his ninth shutout of the season with one save in 90 minutes.

 

Brandeis outshot Lasell 32-6 in the game with 14 shots on net.  Aren Moorman (Somerset, NJ) made three saves in the first half, allowing only one goal, and classmate Alex Serrazina (Ludlow, MA) let in two goals while warding off six.  Lasell's defense also starred with two team saves swept off the goal line by defenders.

 

Mike Skelton (Conway, NH) put forth a four-shot effort on the night, including Lasell's only shot on-goal. 

 

The Lasers will now prepare for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament quarter finals on Sunday, October 30th at Norwich University.  Lasell finished 5th in the conference, and will face the 4th seeded Cadets at 1:30 p.m.
