Men’s Soccer Trumps Rivier; Rolls to 5th Straight Win

NASHUA, NH-  Lasell College men's soccer easily knocked off Rivier College on Saturday in a 3-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory which left Lasell on a five game winning streak to date.  The Lasers overall record stands at 6-0-1 this year, including a 3-0 conference slate, while the Raiders have yet to collect their first win of the year, landing at 0-5 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Lasell out played the hosts in all aspects of soccer, completely overpowering the Raiders in shots, 54-1, and corner kicks, 14-0.  Raider goal keeper Matthew St. Peter (Colchester, VT) weathered the shot surplus by Lasell in an outstanding showing, making 22 saves in the contest. Lasell's keeper Aren Moorman (Somerset, NJ) was awarded his second shutout of the season while making one save.

Jonathan Klippert (Cumberland, ME) and Jared Lewis (Haverhill, MA) gave Lasell two first half goals within a ten minute span.  Klippert struck first in the 8th minute connecting on a corner kick by Isaac Soares (Somerset, MA).  Lewis then ripped a shot from the top of the 18 to double the score by 16:31.  Lewis was assisted by Lasell's leading scorer Mike Skelton (Conway, NH) on the play.

Lawrence Fagan (Weymouth, MA) put in the final goal exactly at the 61 minute mark.  Fagan's goal was unassisted as he maneuvered his way through the Raider defense and scored from inside the box on the left plank.

Lasell will pick up non-league play on Wednesday, September 28th with a 4:00 p.m. game against Bridgewater State University on Taylor Field.
