Moorman Records First Shutout as Lasers Roll Past Clark

WORCESTER, MA—Rookie goalie Aren Moorman (Somerset, NJ) recorded his first career shutout on Wednesday night against non-conference Clark University in a 2-0 victory for Lasell College men's soccer. The victory marked the fourth in the row for the Lasers who are unbeaten at a 5-0-1 overall record.  Clark lands at 4-3 with the loss.

Moorman has held his opposition to just four goals this season in six games while as a group Lasell has outscored its opponents by a combined score of 29-4.  Against the Cougars, Moorman collected four saves to make his career total thus far 22.

Regardless of Clark holding the advantage by the numbers, outshooting Lasell 19-7 and grossing 11 corner kicks to Lasell's three, the Lasers capitalized on their chances in the Cougars end to come out on top.

Mike Skelton's (Conway, NH) six game scoring streak remains unbroken this season as he knocked in the game winner, his third of the year, in the 20th minute.  Skelton sprinted from the midfield, splitting two defenders, and attacked for the early, 1-0 lead at 19:11.  Freshman Noel Rix (Rye, NH) picked up the assist, executing the play perfectly to find Skelton in scoring position.

Lasell padded their lead in the second half when Evan Gaccione (Westerly, RI) set up Lawrence Fagan (Weymouth, MA) for his first goal of the season.  Gaccione crossed a pass to Fagan who was waiting in the box and did not hesitate on his attack barely two minutes into the second half.

In their next contest, Lasell will head to Rivier College on Saturday, September 24th to battle the Raiders in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at 3:30 p.m. on Raider Field.
