Lasers Clean Up GNAC Weekly Goal Keeper Awards

NEWTON, MA—Both Lasell's men's and women's soccer team goalkeepers were selected for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goal Keeper of the Week award on Monday.  Matthew Bruninghaus (Plymouth, MA) was honored for the third time this season by the GNAC while Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, MA) was recognized for the first time this year.

Bruninghaus secured an unbeaten GNAC slate (7-0-2) on Saturday, making six saves against Emerson College, en route to Lasell's final conference victory of the regular season.  Earlier in the week, Bruninghaus had sealed up his fifth season shutout when Lasell defeated Norwich 2-0.  Bruninghaus made five saves in that GNAC win.

This is the second week in a row that Bruninghaus has been selected as the Goal Keeper of the Week.  He finished the 2010 regular season with an 8-6-2 overall record, including five shutouts, 102 saves, a 1.27 GAA, and a .829 save percentage, playing 1,490 minutes in the Lasers' net.  He is ranked nationally in save percentage (94th) and saves per game (6.46, 55th), as well as 2nd in save percentage and shutouts, 3rd in the GNAC in GAA, and 5th in total saves and saves per game.

Stickley picked up the GNAC award after recording her second solo shutout of the 2010 season on Tuesday in a 1-0 victory over Saint Joseph College of Connecticut.  The junior net minder made six stops in the GNAC win which secured home-field advantage for the Lasers in the post-season tournament.

Stickley is currently sporting a 5-3-1 overall record this season with two regular season contests to play.  She holds a 1.09 goals-against-average, a .827 save percentage, and has totaled 43 saves this season.  She shares two shutouts with fellow goal keeper Ashley Parrelli (Marshfield, MA) in addition to her two individual shutouts.  She is ranked 2nd in the GNAC in GAA, 4th in save percentage, and 10th in saves per game (4.78).

The Lasell College women's soccer team plays again on Tuesday, October 26th at 3:30 p.m. on Taylor Field against non-conference foes Rhode Island College.  Men's soccer has a short break before their next contest, opening up the GNAC Tournament quarter finals on Saturday, October 30th at noon on Taylor Field.
