Men’s Soccer Continues Winning Streak, Beats Lesley 8-0

Newton, Mass.- The Lynx of Lesley University were no match for the Lasers in this afternoons men's soccer matchup, as Lasell dominated the game to win, 8-0.  Goalkeeper Julian Dutton (Madison, CT) picked up his second consecutive shutout, along with 7 saves, in today's contest.  With this win, the Lasers' overall record improves to 3-4-0.

The entire squad saw time on the field today for Lasell, with ten Lasers earning points.  The game opened with an unassisted goal by Kyle Cronin (Weymouth, MA) just after the 2 minute mark.  The Lasers further advanced their lead at 15:09 after an remarkable save by Dutton resulted in Shane Vinnicombe (Pomfret Center, CT) clearing the ball to Zach Gagne (Somerset, MA) who took a high shot from the far right wing, and perfectly placed in it the top left corner of the net.  

Finishing the scoring for the Lasers in the first half was freshman, midfielder Jacob Allen (Westminster, MA) who was fed by Dan Hatch (Avon, MA).  Lesley goalie Zach Almeida-Beers (Rehoboth, MA) made ten saves in the first half, letting up 3 goals.

The Lasers continued to dictate the game in the second half, with four more athletes scoring.  Tholeman Francois (Stoughton, MA), Joshua Martinez (Milton, MA), Hatch, and Steve Petrin (Vernon, CT) scored a goal a piece, and Gagne connected with the net again to complete the scoring.

Almeida-Beers came up with 14 saves for the Lynx, as Lesley's record now drops to 3-6-0.

Lasell will travel to Emerson College on Saturday, September 27th, to take on the Lions in GNAC action, at 12:30 p.m.
