STANDISH, Maine (11/2/13) – The Lasell College field hockey team fell 4-1 at St. Joseph's College of Maine in the North Atlantic Conference tournament quarterfinals. The loss dropped the #7 seeded Lasers to 10-10 overall for the year, while the #2 seeded Monks improved to 14-2 on the season and avenged their 2-1 regular season loss to Lasell.

SJC would even the score at 1-1 in the 14th minute when Dumond scored on a feed from Theresea Hendrix (Scarborough, Maine). The hosts would get a fortuitous bounce in the 18th minute when a shot by Drew was deflected up in the air over the head of the Lasers keeper Sheehan and into the net for a 2-1 lead. St. Joseph's made it a 3-1 contest when Meghan Williams collected a rebound on a shot by Carly Denis (Lewiston, Maine) that was saved and knocked it home from her knees in the 19th minute. SJC would take their 3-1 cushion into the half, riding a 13-1 advantage in shots and a 7-0 edge in penalty corners to the lead.

The Monks would tack on one more in the 42nd minute on the second goal of the afternoon by Drew and the hosts then salted away the 4-1 victory to advance to the NAC semifinals.
