Paul Gray enters his first season with the Lasell softball program in 2024, joining the Lasers from the University of Rochester, where he was an assistant coach.   Prior to Rochester he spent a year at Hiram as an assistant coach. In his lone season with the Terriers, Gray helped Hiram post its best season in program history. The Terriers went 27-16 (8-6 NCAC), won the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament for the second consecutive year, and reached the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history, upsetting No. 3-ranked Case Western Reserve on their own turf en route to a Regional Championship.   Gray helped coach six All-NCAC honorees, two National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region selections and the 2023 NCAC Pitcher of the Year, as Hiram broke a 34-year-old single-season record with a 2.34 ERA and a 16-year-old single-season record with an opponent batting average of .229.   Prior to joining the Terriers, Gray spent a year as the head softball coach at Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest, CA, helping rebuild a roster and bring back a program with the addition of 12 incoming freshmen.   Previously, Gray also spent a season as the assistant coach at Frank Phillips College in Borger, TX, as well as multiple years at Leetonia High School in Leetonia, OH, serving as both the head golf and baseball coach, as well as an assistant with the football and men’s basketball teams.   Gray began his coaching career as a baseball coaching assistant at United High School in Hanoverton, OH, serving as both an assistant varsity coach and the head JV coach over his five years with the Golden Eagles.   Gray earned his bachelor's degree in integrative studies from Kent State University in Kent, OH in Aug. 2020.
