Jose Guitian, class of 2009, put together one of the most storied careers on the hardwood at Lasell College. The 6'10 native of Miami, Fla. finished his career as the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,911 points, rebounder with 1,153 boards and shot blocker with 187 in his four years. The Lasers finished with a 67-45 record and a 49-16 mark in conference play capturing the 2008 GNAC championship and NCAA tournament bid. Guitian was a three time 1st team All-Conference selection, and was named the 2009 GNAC Player of the Year. His senior year he ranked fifth in the nation in points per game with an average of 24.2ppg and second in the country in rebounds per game at 13.7rpg. His 2008-09 exploits earned him a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region 2nd team, and D3 Hoops Honorable Mention All-American honors. Guitian was also named one of the ten finalists nationally for the Jostens Trophy, awarded annually to the Division III men's and women's basketball Athlete of the Year.
