XC: Men and Women Both Outrun Rankings in GNAC Championships; Women Post Highest Finish Since 2003

Standish, ME - The Lasell Cross Country team competed at the GNAC Championships on Saturday, with both the men and women outraccing their pre-championship projections. Heading into the championships the women were ranked fifth and the men sixth. Both teams performed overseed, with the women finishing fourth and the men fifth. The result was the best finish for the women since 2003.

There were plenty of great races ran by the Lasers, but the highlight was Kiara Cerruti, as she finished second with a time of 25:59.7. That was good enough for her to be named to the All-Conference First Team.

Joining her on the GNAC All-Conference team was Katherine Kohtala, who was named to the second team after an eighth place finish with a time of 28:09.2

On the men's side of things,Wesley Thompson was also named to the second team All-Conference after finishing 14th with a time of 30:51.9.

Women's 6k: 4th place out of 9 teams, 113 points

Kiara Cerruti: 2nd place, 25:59.7, 1st team All-Conference

Kat Kohtala: 8th place, 28:09.2, 2nd team All-Conference

Emily Varga: 25th place, 30:50.7

Adrianna Tassone: 46th place, 33:20.6

Mikayla Bokis: 47th place, 33:28.7

Hanna Babek: 48th place, 33:39.2

Effie Fotos: 59th place, 36:32.8

Men's 8k: 5th place out of 8 teams, 130 points

Wes Thompson: 14th place, 30:51.9, 2nd team All-Conference

Pat Carbone: 20th place, 31:23.3

Luke Bullock: 32nd place, 33:14.7

Evan Lewis: 35th place, 33:40.9

Jordan Woodley: 59th place, 37:32.0

Darius Vincent: 72nd place, 41:06.0

Dillon Ramirez: 73rd place, 41:47.1

Luigi Gentile: 77th place, 43:00.8
