WXC: Lasers compete at Trinity Invitational

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Lasell University women's cross country team competed Saturday morning at the Trinity College Invitational at Wickham Park, an eight-team race with some strong squads from across New England.

Freshman Aly Richard (New Hartford, Conn.) had another impressive performance for the Lasers, finishing as the team's top runner and placing 38th out of 73 competitors in the race. She ran the 5K course in 24:03. Senior Emma Vierling (Monmouth, Maine) was the next Laser across the finish line, finishing in 59th place in 27:14.

Rounding out Lasell's contingent were freshman Molly Cochrane (Raymond, Maine) in 27:57, senior Shakira Henriquez (Methuen, Mass.) in 28:04, senior Sophie Fistori (Dartmouth, Mass.) in 32:21, and senior Averie Greeley (Ledyard, Conn.) in 32:25.

Wesleyan captured the team title with a team score of 29. Tufts (50) finished runner-up, followed by New Haven (91), Westfield State (95), Trinity (100), Lasell (194) and Saint Joseph of Conn. (207).

The Lasers will race again next Friday, Sept. 17, at the Saint Joseph Blue Jay Invitational in West Hartford, Conn., beginning at 10:30 a.m.
