    The Lasell College women’s volleyball team completed their 2008 season on Tuesday night, in the quarter finals of the GNAC women’s volleyball tournament. The Lasers were brought down by the hosting Raiders of Rivier College in three sets.

    In their final games of the 2008 season, the Lasers were defeated in back-to-back matches by Simmons College and Rivier College to finish their regular season at 9-19, and 5-7 in the GNAC.

    The Babson College Beavers were the victors in Thursday night’s non-conference volleyball match against the Lasell Lasers. The Beavers took the match 3-0, bumping their record to 15-10, and leaving the Lasers with a 9-17 overall record.

    Newton, Mass.-- The Lasers picked up another GNAC win on Tuesday night in the Lasell College Athletic Center over Pine Manor College. The Lasers swept the Gators in three sets, 25-15, 26-24, 25-23.

    It was another close match for the Lasers on Friday night when they took Regis College to five games, but gave way to a 13-15 loss in the final. The Lasers dropped the first two sets before rebounding to win game three and four and forcing a game five.

    The Lasell College women’s volleyball team held Salve Regina to three close sets on Wednesday night, but could not push through to win against the Seahawks. The Lasers lost 0-3 at the Rodgers Recreation Center, in non-conference action.

    The Lasers hosted and swept a GNAC tri-match today against Albertus Magnus College and St. Joseph’s College (ME). Lasell is currently on a four game winning streak, and picked up two conference wins today raising their league record to 4-5.

    Newton, Mass.- The Lasell College Lasers upset Rhode Island College tonight in non-conference women’s volleyball action. After losing 15-25 in the first set, Lasell regrouped and fought back to win games two and three 25-16 and 25-18. The Anchorwomen tied it up in the fourth set 25-17, before the Lasers came back to take the match 15-12 in game five.

    The Lasers picked up a win on Saturday against non-conference challenger Husson College, 3-1, at Framingham State College. Prior to the Husson match, the hosting Rams took a match from the Lasers, 3-0, leaving Lasell with a 1-1 record for the tri-match.

    The Lasell College women’s volleyball team dropped two matches in GNAC action on Thursday in a tri-match with Emerson College and Emmanuel College. Though the Lasers stayed close with each of the two teams, they were unable to push through for the win, and drop to 2-5 in conference play.

    The Mount Ida College women’s volleyball team hosted their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match today against Suffolk University and Lasell College. Winning both ends, the Mustangs would improve to 8-8 overall, 2-1 in conference play while the Lasers were 1-1 on the day making their record 4-9 for the year, 2-2 in the GNAC. The Rams left 0-2, dropping to 3-7 overall, 1-4 in the conference.

    Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales women’s volleyball team notched a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-18) victory against Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Harborside Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.

    The Lasers took on GNAC rivals St. Joseph’s College, Connecticut this afternoon on their home court and won 3-1. This is the first conference matchup for the Lasers this season, who are now 3-7 overall, and 1-0 in the GNAC.

    Five Lasell athletes were recognized by the GNAC as weekly honor roll recipients this week. Two women’s volleyball players, two women’s cross country runners, and one men’s soccer player were noted for their overall play during the week ending on September 15th.

    The Lasell College women’s volleyball team traveled to Plymouth, New Hampshire this weekend to the Days Inn of Campton Volleyball Tournament. The Lasers opened up Friday night, playing the hosting Panthers, and though they had strong performances by first year Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) and Amanda Major (Southbury, CT), they lost in three sets, 25-11, 25-17, 25-12.

    The Lasers’ women’s volleyball team swept the Lynx of Lesley University tonight in non-conference match on their home court. Freshman Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) was a force for the Lasers in their first win of the season with 7 kills, 2 aces, and 3 total blocks. Fellow first year, Jenna-Lynn Geary (Marion, MA) also had a big night, collecting 3 kills, 2 aces, 15 digs, and 1 block.
  • Major Selected for All-Tournament Team

    Amanda Major (Southbury, CT) averaged an impressive 23 digs per game during the Western Connecticut Invitational, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Major (right), a junior, libero, was integral in the Lasers successes this weekend, including a close four-set match with Framingham State College. Though the Lasers went 0-3 this weekend, there were some fine performances from the Lasell team.

    The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team opened its home slate with a 3-0 win over Lasell College in the first round of the WestConn Invitational at The O’Neill Center Friday night. Games scores were 25-10, 25-11 and 25-12.
  • Rivier Selected As GNAC Women's Volleyball Preseason

    Boston, Mass. – Defending GNAC tournament champion Rivier has been selected first in the 2008 GNAC women’s volleyball preseason poll with 136 points. Johnson & Wales was a very close second with 135 points, followed by Emerson and Norwich, respectively.
