WTrack: Lasers Break Three School Records at Monks Invitational

Standish, ME - The Lasell Lasers Women's Track and Field teams competed in the Monks Invitational at Saint Joseph's (ME) over the weekend. As a team they finished tied for 10th place out of 15 teams with 16 points.

Three Lasers set new school records, starting with Emily VanHouten. The women's volleyball export competed in the Heptathlon, and placed fourth with 3,225 points. With that she set a new school record, and qualified for the NCAA DIII New England Regionals. The next school record came in the Hammer Throw. Just a week after her teammate Erika Oldham set a new school record in the event, Sinclair Samuels shattered it, posting a new mark of 32.05m, nearly five meters farther than Oldham's mark last week. Samuels also posted a new PR in the discus with a throw of 22.62m. The third school record came from Damali Waugh, as she posted a mark of 8.81m in the Triple Jump, besting her own previous record by 0.10m. She also set a new PR in the 100m Dash of 14.09s.

Elsewhere in the throwing competitions, Mikayla Bokis shined, setting new PRs in the Hammer Throw (25.53m) and the Javelin (20.51m). Jasmine DePina, a basketball export, placed second in that Javelin competition with a throw of 36.74m.

On the track, Hanna Babek posted two season bests, as she finished the 400m Dash in 1:07.53, and the 200m Dash in 28.40s. She finished eighth in both events. Also finishing eighth in an event was Emily Varga, as she ran a 5:59.18 in the 1500m Run.
