Women's Track & Field: Lasers' 2021-22 season recap

NEWTON, Mass. - Elise Stanbury of the Lasell University women's track & field team did a little bit of everything during her senior season.

She earned the university's 2022 Female Torchbearer award, along with being recognized as a GNAC Woman of the Year finalist and NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. Stanbury took home two GNAC Field Athlete of the Week honors. Beyond Stanbury's accomplishments, Lasell secured many additional standout performances, as Sinclair Samuels and Hanna Babek were named GNAC Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Madison Nerich's distance of 26.53 meters in the outdoor hammer throw on April 23 at the Pre-Conference meet currently stands as a program record. Babek, Emily Hong, Sarah Milne and Averie Greeley compiled a school-record time of 5:36.42 in the 1,600 sprint medley relay on April 16 at the Penmen Relays in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

During the GNAC Championship on May 1, Riley Silvia and Samuels placed first overall in the discus and shot put, respectively, with Silvia's distance of 32.21 in the discus being a personal-best. Samuels finished first in the shot put with a personal record of 10.25 on April 8 at the Regis Spring Classic in Weston, Massachusetts, and then she earned runner-up honors in the event during the Pre-Conference meet 15 days later.
