Women's Indoor Track & Field: Lasers set four personal records at GNAC Championship

BOSTON - Freshman Hanna Babek of the Lasell University women's indoor track & field team finished fourth overall and clocked a career-best time of 28.15 in the finals of the 200-meter dash Sunday during the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.

"I was excited to compete at this meet today because it is what we have been working toward and talking about this whole season," said Babek. "Everyone did well today, and we had many personal records."

Babek was the Lasers' top-performer in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash, covering the course in a time of 8.59. Senior Alahna Mild set two personal records, occurring in the preliminaries of the 60 meters (8.72) and finals of the 200-meter dash (29.23).

Sophomore Kristina Powers set a career-best mark of 11.28 and finished seventh overall in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles. Suffolk won the meet with a team score of 162, while Emmanuel (Mass.) earned runner-up honors with a mark of 117.

Senior Emily Hong and Powers took their talents to the finals of the 400-meter dash, finishing in times of 1:08.86 and 1:08.94, respectively. Additionally, Powers competed in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in a time of 11.80. 

Senior Elise Stanbury led the way for the Lasell in the finals of the shot put, tallying a mark of 9.23 meters. Freshman Taylor Sprague and sophomore Caitlyn Geary competed in the event, recording distances of 8.40 and 7.65, respectively.

The Lasers will compete in the Wheaton College Invitational Saturday in Norton, Massachusetts.
