Women's Indoor Track & Field: Lasers take part in John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON - Freshman Hanna Babek of the Lasell University women's indoor track & field team was the Lasers' top-performer in two events Friday during the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.

Babek clocked a personal-best time of 28.22 in the 200-meter dash, while finishing the 60 meters in a time of of 8.60. Senior Emily Hong led the three Lasers who participated in the 400 meters, recording a time of 1:08.52. Senior Elise Stanbury tallied a mark of 8.68 meters in the shot put. 

"I was nervous going into the meet because I had never run at BU or against a lot of the teams before, but I ended up running some of my strongest races of the season," said Babek. "I tried to think back to the ways we prepared for my races during practice and focused on running my own race."

Sophomore Kristina Powers was Lasell's first-place performer in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in a career-best time of 11.53. The Canton, Massachusetts, native also suited up for the 400 meters, covering the course in a season-best time of 1:08.69.

Sophomore Maddie Young clocked a personal record of 1:08.87 in the 400 meters, while also tallying a 9.00 in the 60 meters. Senior Alahna Mild posted times of 8.94 and 31.08 in the 60 and 200 meters, respectively. 

Sophomore Chante Gregory registered a time of 10:33 in the 60 meters.

The Lasers will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Indoor Championship at Boston University.
